- Experience (Judicial Officer) — 7 or more years of combined experience as an Advocate and / or Judicial Officer
- Eligible Applicants — Practising Advocates and Pleaders, Government Pleaders, Public Prosecutors, and eligible Judicial Officers

- Practice or service experience is generally verified through certificates issued by Principal District Judges or High Court Registrars.

Selection Process
The selection process consists of the following stages:
- Screening Test (if held) — Objective type – 100 questions, 300 marks (+3 for each correct answer, -1 for each wrong answer). Subjects: Law, English Language, General Knowledge and Computer Knowledge.
- Main Written Examination — Descriptive written papers on core legal subjects. This is the merit-deciding stage.
- Viva-Voce (Interview) — Personality and knowledge assessment for shortlisted candidates.
- Final Selection — Based on performance in the Main Written Examination and Viva-Voce, as per the official notification.
