UPESSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 — 1,936 Vacancies, Apply by 7 October 2026
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has officially released the UPESSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 notification on 8 September 2026 under Advertisement No. 04/2026 on its official website upessc.up.gov.in. A total of 1,936 vacancies have been announced for the post of Assistant Professor across 42 subjects in state government-aided colleges.

Educational Qualification
Post — Required Qualification
- Master’s Degree — Master’s degree in the concerned, relevant or allied subject with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade from a recognised Indian or accredited foreign university
- NET / SLET / SET — Qualified UGC NET, CSIR NET, SLET/SET, or a similar UGC-accredited test
- Ph.D. Exemption — Ph.D. holders meeting the prescribed UGC Regulations (2009 or 2016) conditions are exempt from NET/SLET/SET
- Foreign Ph.D. — A Ph.D. in the relevant subject from a qualifying foreign university ranked among the top 500 under the criteria specified in the official notification is also accepted
- Subject-wise related or equivalent qualifications, for example Applied Economics for Economics or Social Work for Sociology, are specified in the official notification; candidates should verify the allied-subject list for their discipline before assuming ineligibility.
- Candidates registered for a Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 must satisfy separate conditions relating to a regular Ph.D., thesis evaluation, viva voce and research publications, as specified in the official notification.
