NFR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 — 6,777 Act Apprentice Vacancies, Apply Online by 19 August 2026
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), a zonal railway of Indian Railways headquartered at Maligaon, Guwahati, has officially released the NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification (No. NFR/NAPS/ACT APP./2026) dated 14 July 2026. A total of 6,777 Act Apprentice training slots have been notified across 8 divisions and workshops in Assam, West Bengal and Bihar for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 training cycles.
Eligible candidates who have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) and hold an ITI (NCVT/SCVT) certificate in the relevant trade can apply online from 20 July 2026 to 19 August 2026 (up to 5:30 PM) through the official NFR portal nfr.indianrailways.gov.in. Only one online application is permitted per candidate.
Unlike most railway recruitments, this engagement has no written examination. Selection is based purely on a merit list prepared from the average of Matriculation and ITI marks (Class 10 and Class 12 Science for the Medical Laboratory Technician trade), followed by Document Verification. Selected apprentices receive a monthly stipend during their training period.

Educational Qualification
Post — Required Qualification
- Technical Trades (Fitter, Turner, Welder, Electrician, etc.) — Passed Class 10 (Matriculation) with minimum 50% aggregate marks AND a National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the relevant trade from an NCVT/SCVT recognised institution
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) — Passed Class 10 AND Class 12 (Science stream) as specified in the notification
- Percentage Rule — 50% is calculated on the aggregate of all subjects as per the concerned board’s rules
- Candidates must possess the ITI/NTC certificate in the same trade for which they are applying.
- Only one online application is permitted per candidate; multiple applications lead to summary disqualification.
- Candidates should indicate their Unit-Department-Trade preferences carefully, in order of choice.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of the following stages:
- Stage 1 — Preparation of a Merit List based on the average of Matriculation (Class 10) marks and ITI marks in the relevant trade
- For MLT Trade — Merit based on Class 10 and Class 12 (Science) marks
- Stage 2 — Document Verification of provisionally selected candidates
- Written Exam — Not applicable — there is no written test for this engagement
- Important Note — Apprenticeship training does not, by itself, confer any right to Railway employment

3) Click the registration link and register with your basic details to generate your Registration Number and login credentials
4) Log in and fill the online application form with personal details, educational qualifications and Unit-Department-Trade preferences in order of choice
5) Upload scanned copies of the required documents: Class 10 mark sheet, ITI/NTC certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), colour passport photograph and signature as per specifications
6) Pay the non-refundable application fee of ₹100 online (if applicable) via Net Banking, UPI, Debit / Credit Card or Mobile Wallet
7) Review the complete form carefully, submit it, and note your Registration Number
8) Download and print the final submitted application form for your records
